Las Imaginistas

Project evaluation for a socially engaged arts group in Brownsville, TX

2019

Project Overview

The Brownsville, TX-based socially engaged arts group Las Imaginistas use arts based facilitation and activities to empower community members, and develop civic relationships, opportunities, and vision for community members, arts and cultural leaders, and local government. From 2018-2020, they produced two different grant-funded initiatives: Taller De Permiso focused on co-visioning equitable economic development opportunities with community members and the City. Hacemos La Ciudad built up civic capacities and networks within the Buena Vida neighborhood community (the body of the community), with artists and community leaders (the thought leaders), and with the City itself (those who are responsible for the land).
