What does creative placemaking have to do with local government? How can the arts affect policy change? What is the difference between placemaking and placekeeping?In this second episode in the series, Abbey Judd talks with Dr. Lynn Osgood about the wide range of types and scales of creative placemaking practices in local government, and how arts strategies can be powerful tools to achieve local government goals. They discuss two case studies - Irrigate (St. Paul, MN) uses small scale creative placemaking projects to reduce the negative impact of construction on local businesses, and Taller de Permiso (Brownsville, TX) uses arts engagement to affect policy change around street vending.
